24 September, South Africa’s National Heritage Day was firstly known as Shaka Day, in commemoration of the Zulu King, Shaka.
He was the legendary Zulu King who united disparate Zulu clans into a cohesive nation. Every year people gather at King Shaka’s grave to honour him on this day. The SOS Africa children in the Western Cape found a very creative way to pay tribute to the great King Shaka!
Elvino will explain how you dress like Shaka :
Melray and Zusakhe explain an essential part of the ZULU culture…
Linden demonstrates the ferocious Zulu Warrior pose – is he or is he not ready for battle?!
Nathan, Janco and Lwazi prepare for battle…
Britney and Benecia sing the war cries whilst Raynick practices her warrior pose…
This is lesson we won’t forget! We had so much fun and hope you’ve enjoyed reading about it. HAPPY HERITAGE DAY SOUTH AFRICA!
A GREAT BIG HUGE thanks goes out to Madeleine, the Aftercare Manager in the Western Cape, who somehow manages to create the most wonderful things from rubbish! Our recycling Queen!
