Leaden Hall School in Wiltshire recently ran a “Bring and Buy” event to raise money for a young girl supported by SOS Africa in South Africa. There were cakes, books, toys, clothes and jewellery all on sale. We also had some game stalls where people paid to play; there was Apple Bobbing, Darts, Feel the sock and Dip for Sweets. Also, each girl got to wear home clothes and pay a pound to do so.
It all paid off as it was a great success and we raised over £500, and with my father’s company, The Big 5 Safari Company matching every pound we raised, in total we raised over £1,000 pounds. We are all delighted to be helping Mechline go to school.
“I think the girls did really well raising just over £500. There are only about 100 of them and there were no adults buying anything; everything bought was donated by the girls themselves, (apart from the cakes which of course the mums all made), and the charity committee girls ran the game stalls themselves (Aged 10). I’m very proud of them and their efforts.” Abigail Collins, Kristyna’s mum.
