Last Thursday, the sight of delivery men carrying box after box, into the SOS Africa Education Centres, made our children stop and stare. The Rotary E-Club 9400, partnering with Sešego Cares, an independent NPO involved in many socially significant community projects across South Africa, had selected the SOS Africa programmes, in both Mafikeng and the Western Cape, to be the recipients of the sponsored TOMS Shoes.
Sesego Cares are the host for TOMS Shoes in South Africa. They aim to provide shoes to children who are financially restricted and otherwise unable to provide themselves with footwear. The Toms Company in California, USA designs and sells shoes based on the Argentine Aplargata design. When Toms sell a pair of shoes, a new pair is given to an impoverished child.
With this donation, Sešego Cares will help keep the SOS Africa children motivated to continue focusing on their school activities without having to worry about damaged footwear.
On behalf of our children SOS Africa would like to thank TOMS Shoes and Sešego Cares for these wonderful gifts, which were worn proudly by our excited youngsters on their way home on the SOS Africa School Bus.” Henry Matthews (Trustee, SOS Africa)
