The past few decades have witnessed an overwhelming upsurge in the popularity of the online gaming industry. Since the introduction of the smartphone, it is estimated that the average gamer spends between 14 and 20 hours each week engrossed in the latest online gaming sensations. “What a waste of time” you might say… or is it?
Thanks to Rob and Jennifer Slaughter, the creators of “BeeTheSwarm” you can now play exciting free online games and raise money for a number of different charities at the same time, hence their slogan “Play Games, Have Fun, Do Good.”
Launched earlier this year, this innovative new approach to charitable giving has already raised vital funding for 30 different charitable organisations, including our very own SOS Africa. Leading up to the launch of its very first online game “Zombees” the BeeTheSwarm team generously agreed to fully fund the education and care of SOS Africa’s Kelebogile in Mafikeng, South Africa:
“Instantly when I saw a picture of Kelebogile I could tell how much personality she had. She had an infectious smile and seemed incredible bright and confident. Others within Bee The Swarm saw it too. When we received more background on her aspirations in life, it was a done deal. We wanted to do anything we could to enable her to reach her potential. Just from people playing our free video games on their phones and donating 2 days of the profits generated each month to SOS Africa, we are now sending Kelebogile to school and we couldn’t be happier!” (Rob Slaughter, BeeTheSwarm Creator)
SOS Africa would like to congratulate Rob and Jennifer on this fantastic initiative and thank them for helping secure Kelebogile’s education.
