We are delighted to announce the launch of a new holistic training programme for young care workers fully funded by SOS Africa, in partnership with The Village Collaboration and Procare, South Africa…
As an organisation which provides holistic education and training to children and young adults from disadvantaged communities, SOS Africa is constantly striving to provide new opportunities which will empower these vulnerable groups and raise their overall standard of living. Earlier this year, we were approached by Sir Lowry’s Pass Community Charity “The Village Collaboration” and asked to fund a new initiative which will provide holistic training to young adults looking to join the care profession.
After meeting with the organisation’s founder, Lorraine Emery and representatives from Procare, we learnt of the exciting new initiative which will provide extensive training, work experience placements and guaranteed employment for budding young carers. Whilst Procare provides the equipment, training, placements and employment, The Village Collaboration recruits the trainees and assists with the holistic preparations required to ensure that they are ready for this challenging but very worthwhile and rewarding career.
Delighted with this innovative approach to tackling youth unemployment, the SOS Africa Trustees voted unanimously in favour of the programme. With the first 10 trainees already enrolled, once sponsored, training will begin in April 2022. Successful graduates of the 6-month course will then be qualified and employed care workers by the end of the year. To provide them with this life-changing opportunity, SOS Africa is currently looking for sponsorship for each of the first 10 applicants. For more information, click here.
“It has been a difficult few years for those looking to enter South Africa’s turbulent job market and for those without Matric qualifications, this challenging process is made even more daunting. We are delighted be able to support a holistic training process which will break down these barriers and ultimately provide long-term employment for young adults from disadvantaged communities.” (Matt Crowcombe, SOS Africa Founder/CEO)
“To be able to give someone the gift of holistic education and training is worth more than anything else, because you are giving them the opportunity of a greater future. We wish all our trainees the very best and cannot wait to witness and report upon their growth and development over the coming months.” (Colleen, The Village Collaboration)
