“On Saturday, the 12th of March 2016, myself and a group of three mature students from the University of Greenwich studying BA (Hons) in Events Management, organized a fundraising event titled ‘Dance Barefoot’ which was held at St Alfege’s Community Hall, Greenwich Church Street, London.
The aim of the event was to create awareness of children living in poverty in South Africa and to raise money to assist children whose parents cannot afford school shoes or books. It also aimed to attract students and fellow Africans residing in the local community.
To entertain our guests, we arranged a banquet feast, barefoot dancing and African craft stands which all contributed to the fantastic £275.25 raised on the night. We also played the SOS Africa Charity Video to show our guests the difference their donations would make.
It was a humbling experience for me and the other event organizers Marie Ecoue, Mary Odusanya and Marisa Lopes to be able to make a difference in the lives of children in Africa.”
